Names of Jesus Fabric Design

Fabric Design

This fabric design is truly exciting for me!  Having been a quilter for several years I made a goal to create original quilts for all of my nieces and nephews.  My desire for these quilts was and is to make them beautiful, and personal, and to carry upon them the hope and comfort of Christ.

I pursued trying to find Christian fabric for quilting.  With only a little success I set about finding other ways to achieve my goals………I wrote with fabric pens and used free motion stitches to place words of faith and hope into the quilts.  They were lovely yet it seemed to me that many other quilters would love to do the same for heritage quilts so began my path of learning to design.

Now I have learned to design the fabrics I was searching for and can share them with others!  Currently I have the designs produced on fabric at Spoonflower and order the amounts I require.  This design of the ‘Names of Jesus’ has become my favorite for pillow cases and table runners.  For pillow cases I order the cotton sateen fabric which is very smooth to feel and has a bit of shimmer.  Great for wedding, birthday, or baptism gifts!  Later this year this design and its collection shall be available in the market place.  Keep watching and i will let you know when and where!

I hope you enjoy reading some of the names of Jesus visible above!

Blessings to you!

American/Canadian, could be your neighbor! Married with two grown children and now four grandchildren! Loving being a grandma! I began quilting in the 1990ʼs with scraps of fabric. Then wanting to make personalized family heritage quilts I used my own technique of pounding flowers, adding highlights to the petals and finally, special notes with Pigma pens. In 2010 I expanded my quilting ideas into designing my own fabrics through Spoonflower. Learning to work with my computer, how to create repeats, how to change up colors etc. was challenging and very interesting! When sharing my designs with others I felt the prompting to create a 'collection' with some Christian elements to put into my family quilts. A collection would be required for any fabric company to consider 'printing for quilt shops.' I believed that there would be many quilters interested in tucking scripture into their quilts. My husband and I traveled to the Houston International Quilt Market There were several interested companies - Newcastle Fabrics printed my first collection called Julia's Notes. "In The Beginning Fabrics" produced my second collection called "A Time to Mend" You can see images of the designs in this blog. The "Time To Mend" collection was printed and distributed in the fall of 2015. With a background as a quilter, dabbler in acrylic painting and sketching - fabric design was a new idea for me. And it is a curious journey! I love expressing my faith through words and pictures. A piece in each collection presents 'words that inspire' for quilters to use in their quilts or other sewn items.

    1. Hi Sande, I was just reviewing my blog posts and discovered you comment of 5.5 yrs ago!
I hope you were able to access some of the fabric yourself. Since this post I have incorporated the names into many quilts and I find my favorite way to use it has been to place it as an inner border with only one row of names going around inside the quilts – draws the eye in to read them very easily. May you be blessed in this Christmas season with the warmest presence of Jesus ever!! 2017
